Trojan horse attack Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5

SecureMac is reporting that it has discovered multiple variants of a new Trojan horse in the wild that affects Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5.

The Trojan horse is currently being distributed from a hacker website, where discussion has taken place on distributing the Trojan horse through iChat and Limewire.

The Trojan horse runs hidden on the system, and allows a malicious user complete remote access to the system, can transmit system and user passwords, and can avoid detection by opening ports in the firewall and turning off system logging. Additionally, the AppleScript.THT Trojan horse can log keystrokes, take pictures with the built-in Apple iSight camera, take screenshots, and turn on file sharing. The Trojan horse exploits a recently discovered vulnerability with the Apple Remote Desktop Agent, which allows it to run as root.

SecureMac is recommending people to run MacScan 2.5.2 but it’d stand to reason that other security software would be updated to address the threat by now.

apple introduce apple safari 3.1

apple inc introduce Safari 3.1 for Microsoft Windows browser. Windows XP and Windows Vista are supported for safari 3.1.safari 3.1 is fastest and easiest web browser in the world. Safari was the fastest web browser in mac machines. Now this is faster in windows too. Safari loads web pages 1.9 times faster than internet explorer 7 and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2. It also touts some pretty lithe athletic ability by running JavaScript up to half a dozen times faster compared to other browsers, and is the first browser which supports the latest innovative web standards needed to deliver the next generation of highly interactive Web 2.0 experiences.

Apple Safari 3.1 is the first web browser to support the new video and audio tags in HTML 5, as well as CSS Web Fonts and CSS animations. Another significant addition to Safari 3.1 will be support of HTML5's SQL storage application programming interface (API), which is a client-side database storage programming interface that will allow a future array of web applications to store structured data locally on a user's machine using SQL. The API is asynchronous, according to Apple, and uses callback functions to track the results of a database query.

Also on tap for the new version of the Apple browser is support for video and audio tags as outlined in the draft specification of HTML5, which add native support for embedding video and audio content in web pages. Additionally, they provide a rich scripting (API) that will allow developers tailor playback controls.Among the other features expected as part of Safari 3.1 are enhanced web page debugging tools, a database browser tool that's been built into the Web Inspector for use alongside the new SQL storage API, and a native version of the getElementsByClassName JavaScript function.

User says that it’s easy to navigate and WebPages appear quickly. WebPages are also slightly larger because of the smaller toolbar along the top of the page.
